Waking up in Urban Villa
Aaah one of my favourite hotels in London! Oh wait, it’s the only hotel in London I’ve stayed in so far 🙂 Either way: I love Urban Villa! It’s rather on the outskirts of London, in Brentford, but trust me: your stay there will make up for the distance.
- Great West Road, London (Brentford)
- Metro: South Ealing (Piccadilly)
- Bus: Great West Road Ealing Road (65) and Clayponds Avenue (H91)

Urban Villa is part of the NoHo group. Or ‘No Ordinary Hotel’. For the moment the group is also working on a second hotel in London (Stratford), namely The Penny Brook. And in the summer of 2017 they will open Sarani Resort in Panama (can I book my tickets already?!).
You could say that Urban Villa is an apartment hotel because they rent out studios and apartments with a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. I’m guessing you wondered what the heck I meant with a winter garden 🙂 It’s actually a private enclosed balcony with ceiling-to-floor windows and potted plants. In other words: lots of natural daylight for you to read your favorite book in one of the lounge chairs. The fantastic views on clear days are for free.
Lovely detail: the personal care products are by Malin + Goetz. Minty shampoo to wake you up in the morning: check!
On the ground floor there’s a breakfast and lunch place called Boki. They serve the best flat white I ever had. The granola with fresh fruit is delicious as well. Don’t fancy granola? There’s still a protein plate or butter croissant to fulfill your needs.
Anyway, I suggest you give it a try. Brentford and its neighbourhood have a lot to offer as well:
- Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew
- Richmond Park
- Brentford Market and Duck Pond market (only on Sundays)
Ideal for a day trip by bicycle! Urban Villa has their own bikes actually; you can book them for free at the reception.
You’re already packing your bags, right? 🙂
PS: there’s a Sainsbury’s Local around the corner!
