Mexican tastiness at Santa Maria

The place to be in Kreuzberg for Mexican food! Santa Maria is close to Oranienplatz and a 20 minute walk away from East Side Gallery.

We stumbled upon Santa Maria on a Monday evening after an afternoon of shopping in Kreuzberg. We weren’t very hungry yet so we decided to take it slow and start with tortillas, guacamole and frozen margaritas. You could notice this was a very popular place. The later it got, the more people had to wait for a table. And even tough the staff were friendly; they were quite pushy about getting our order.

But either way, we made our choices and enjoyed Quesadillas Tinga de Pollo and Alambre de Res. Then we found out about the cocktail happy hour and had a few more drinks, haha! And of course we were seduced by one of their desserts. We tried the crème brûlée with rice and it was de-licious! Actually it was one of the best crème brûlées I had in a while.

Santa Maria also has a little brother near the Eastside Gallery. And they have a burger place called Piri’s Chicken Burgers in Kreuzberg as well. It got voted best burger in Berlin, so I know what I’ll try out next when I visit Berlin! I wonder if they’ll beat my personal favorite Burgermeister…

Go and check it out if you’re around!

PS: if you’re staying in a apartment/studio, or you live in Berlin, you can even let your food be delivered.
